At the Yeshiva of South Shore a group of children were immersed in a high-tech world, surrounded by toys and tools that were not quite dreamed about by their parents. They were given the opportunity to develop their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through the use of Legos and a curriculum designed by the team at PITSCO and Lego Education.

The LEGO NXT robot system puts the behind the scenes thinking and programming in the hands of the boys who have demonstrated a predilection towards the science and technology fields. Twice a week each team of students met with Mrs. Watman, our technology coordinator, learning design through the building of robots; physics, engineering, and computer programming were covered through the custom software design of the robots. Concepts such as geometry and algebra are used in hands-on experiences that required the user to utilize concepts like how to measure wheel circumference, predict distances traveled, and calculate gear ratios.
